Beautiful metaphor of the side door! My favorite quote was, "once we’re inside, it doesn’t matter which way we came in. It matters that we’re warm and safe. That we’re welcomed. That we’re together."
Hi Cameron, just to say this has really stayed with me for the last week, it’s gentle invitation and consolation huge as I patiently (reluctantly as I grocery-shop) assist others take on their “doing Lent” - our local parish priest was so convincing to the kids in school my 12 yr DD has now decided to go vegetarian for Lent…. Almost had a mind to give out to him! And she’s too stubborn to drop it on Sundays or any other day of celebration! So I’ll enter through the side door any day this Lent!

"A Lenten insistence on gentleness" - beautiful
Just loved this column about entering through the side door. Well done.
I then had to look up what a camellia and samoyed looked like! Both gorgeous.
Happy Lent and Thank you Cameron.
“The side door”…just so gentle and exquisitely tender.
I like this. A lot. Especially for where I am sitting right now. Thank you.
Thank you for being the external voice of permission to do what I had floating around in my heart and mind this year. Side door it is, then.
Absolutely beautiful, and what an inspiring start to Lent! Thanks!❤️

What a beautiful and timely reflection. I can’t wait to share it with my middle school students. And to live it personally. Thank you.
