So glad I stumbled upon your newsletter and this reflection. My wife and I so often talk about the people we were, the people we are, and the people we will become as life's transitions continue to shape us individually, as a couple, and as a family. We have seven years of delirious parenting under our belts, and sometimes that makes it difficult to unearth the past of where we've been to rediscover the thrill of those early days of our relationship. Our TV's screensaver is an "On This Day" slideshow powered by Google Photos though, and I have had a similar experience to you when those memories and images are resurfaced. Looking forward to reading more of your writing!

I love this so much. Richard and I are living in the area we met. It's so surreal when we drive by the hotel where I stayed the night before my wedding or see the drive into the country club we held our reception. Like long lost ghosts, wisps of my past self, brush by me for a moment. I am so glad y'all had such a good time. <3

"...but the delirium has become rather more literal..." is perhaps my favorite line of the week :-)

I find great joy in exploring the younger self that still exists in my 68 y/o body. It's a wiser, more light-hearted version that is filled with hope, promise and more fumbling with God in the future. From process theologian Peter Hodgson whose words stand the test of time with me, “God does not determine us from the past, but lures us, calls us, shapes us from the future.” Thank you for a lovely reflection.

Loved reading your backstory and fumbling along with you! Such a sweet valentines ask, and gift.

What a treat and a blessing to revisit our younger selves and find welcome and joy there... I'm happy for you!
